AMAZONE: Saubere Luft mit System

Amazone is one of the largest agricultural engineering companies worldwide. In the main factory near Osnabrück the agricultural machinery manufacturer produces fertiliser spreaders and plant protection equipment. New extraction and filter technology for the large-part welding shop (GTS) and the locksmith's shop should meet the following requirements: It had to be sensibly integrated into the existing production, employees had to be individually protected against air emissions and at the same time work in an extremely energy-saving manner. In both areas, robots weld components up to 8 meters long, while employees prepare and post-process the components using the MIG process. In addition, there are numerous manual workstations in both halls, where welders work in three shifts to produce small series.

The company opted for an air-technical solution with burner extraction from TEKA. The users use welding guns with integrated extraction. When they operate the welding torches, the extraction nozzles also start automatically and remove the smoky air - as recommended by the German Employers' Liability Insurance Association for Wood and Metal - directly at the point of origin. These are particularly effective because, unlike extraction arms, they are fed directly to the source of emissions. The manual tracking of an extraction arm is not necessary. Just like the separate switching on and off of the system, so that employees are protected from harmful emissions without having to take action themselves. The air is simultaneously collected at the welding workplaces and is conducted via pipelines to the FILTERCUBE filter system.

The filter systems and soundproof housings are located outside the actual production area. This saves space. Frequency converters with shut-off valves ensure that the volume flow is always adapted to the respective demand, i.e. the number of actively used welding workstations. By using energy-saving technology, energy consumption can be reduced considerably. The clean warm air can be returned to the work room, which saves energy costs, especially in winter.
