What is dust/smoke?
Fumes are finely dispersed solid particles (dust) in the air, which are created during thermal processes such as welding. When does dust/smoke arise?
In welding technology, dust/smoke and thus pollutants are generated from the use of base materials, filler materials, impurities and ambient air. As well as from processes such as vaporisation, condensation, oxidation, decomposition, pyrolysis or combustion. Why is dust/fume dangerous?
In general, any type of dust/fume in high concentrations and long-term ingestion can lead to respiratory diseases (bronchitis, obstructive bronchitis). However, dust/smoke is particularly dangerous if it contains hazardous substances.
